Here is a different view on this, with some facts listed below.
This was an orchestration, coup wasn't a real thing, this was done to test the loyalty of MoD staff and to show west that Russian people are united around the president and if decorated Wagner could not get support of RUS population no pro-west liberals ever will.
This war for Russia to the end of the last Ukrainian or Russian.
Here is some facts:
1. Any terror attack and operation on this scale never announced in advance, you move first then announce
2. You do not drive 10 hours to Moscow so you can fight for another 24 hours non-stop
3. Once in Moscow it would take another 10 hours to get to the Kremlin traffic would be at peak. If you have not experience Moscow traffic google it.
4. Wagner are pro storm troopers they know how to plan operations on this scale, and this was a show for gimps
5. They would have only ammunition what they could bring which would not be a lot, probably for 6-12 hours of intense fighting.
6. Prigozhin is a billionaire, dying on the streets of Moscow not his thing.
Thanks and yes this theory about it all being orchestrated is doing the rounds. Maybe, possibly and hard to know. It was not a real coup that is for sure, it was a protest, it was a 'see what I can do' type of thing. But if it was planned and coordinated beforehand it also means it was controlled and that whoever organized it was taking some real risks: (1) all of Prigozhin's criticism of the war got aired in public; (2) what if some rebels or resentful army units had taken this seriously and acted upon it, outside of anyone's control? and (3) last but not least, how would it be interpreted in Ukraine and informed some of its actions?
UKR got advice from Brits not to act for the next 24 hours after the coup started, so they kinda knew the whole thing was odd.
Another reason for this, as Ukraine not making any progress with the counter offensive Poland is thinking of organizing attack on Belarus, so now that Wagner is in Belarus that would be off the plate. Also Wagner now very close to Kiev and Zelya would have to move some units close to Belarus.
Putin distanced himself from Wagner in the public so would be hard for Poland to blame this on Rus and trigger article 5.
The real outcome of this psyop we will see in the next 1-3 months, more will be telling after NATO summit.
Regardless of the outcome its clear Ukraine is done. Russia going to finish it off in the next 24 months. Ideally for RUS if UKR keep attacking.
Also Prigozin just a talking head marketing person for Wagner who takes orders from above, the real masters are behind the scene.
