Excellent synopsis of situation Pieter, thank you for your insight.
More sad news from Israel earlier today.
- Two of the three Israeli hostages in yesterday’s video have been murdered by Hamas. Psychological warfare on the Israeli public is simply another evil Hamas tool. https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-782292
Your commentary on what Israel should or shouldn’t do. Strongly recommend doing some reading about the Jihadi mindset and “culture”. Can start with the Hamas charter and understand why your comment #4 is a 100% misconception. If Israel stopped defending themselves, they would not survive. Zero equivocation. Stated again and again by Hamas leadership yesterday. Hence the importance of this terrible war.
o The Preamble to the 1988 Charter stated: ″Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam invalidates it, just as it invalidated others before it″.[1]
- Recognize the Jihadi’s (Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, Houthis, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.) mindset – there’s no hiding of their intent. Note there is significant “achievements” taking place in European demograhics today without any shots being fired. Appreciate their objectives on free and democratic societies.
Thank you for the enlightening context setting of "The Inevitable: Counter Attacks" - - I'd like to turn your attention to the front line between Israel and Gaza. The unresolved hostage situation versus the Sunni Muslims killed in conflict does not address my concerns.
1) The leadership in Israel in pursuit of the Hamas is turning their nation state into a future kill zone. Unless there is a homogenized sharing of the Holy Land by Israel, Gaza, Muslim, Jews, Christians and others with an significant international immigration of contractors and businesses to restore a shared co-existent territory, then this conflicted land will always remain a kill zone.
2) Inevitably, some and not all of hostages will be returned. Just as inevitably there will be an evidentiary reckoning of the number of innocent Muslims killed in Gaza in the conflict. There is no useful way to measure the emotional pain by both sides. The post traumatic stress will impede generations of both sides.
3) Not all of the Hamas "terrorists" will be caught and none would allow themselves to stand trial. And if there were leadership survivors, the Hamas rhetoric would be counterproductive to any "settlement".
4) Israel should declare an immediate cease fire and send their troops to the Ukraine with their US weapon systems to protect the borders of that sovereign nation from the Russian border expansion. Russia is the chess master in this regional conflict supporting Iran that in turn supports the Hamas that in turn drives internal support by the Jews within Israel seeking vengeance.
5) Keep your friends close, but, like it or not, keep your enemies even closer. This tactic will allow the Holy Land to be home to all of those who cherish the roots of their beliefs.
Canada sent a container of poutine and a Nerf gun.

- Some realism of how Gazan Arabs live shared by an IDF reservist coming off 100 days of deployment. Perspective outside the mainstream narrative: https://twitter.com/codegician/status/1746796769541767175?s=42&t=ncdROpCqSbt3MqCdhxnuag

Make pease, not war.
