A reader just e-mailed: I was amused by the element of surprise. There was the vacation ruse when Bibi’s aides told reporters he was going on a holiday to Galilee and would be attending his son’s wedding next Tuesday.

Envoys were supposed to be going to Washington (they stayed in Israel) and some kind of impending negotiation meeting re the remaining hostages was set for a specific date . All red herrings.

The ramifications for the bombings are yet to be known but Iran made its plan clear regarding their plans for the “weapons in progress”. Did Israel really have any choice ?

Pieter - I have read on X that the underground enrichment part of Natanz was not destroyed. Where did you get your information?

Thanks for noting that. This was reported by multiple sources around 1AM pacific time when I wrote it. The IAEA later today confirmed the above ground parts had been destroyed. Apparently bombing on Natanz is continuing right now, presumably to destroy the underground sections, but we will have to see if that is to be confirmed later by Israeli, Iranian or international sources.

Yes, amazing. The US has been so bogged down in divisiveness and at the same time trying to be even handed, or worse, appeasing, it could never make the decisive move Israel has. Bravo!

Go listen to Faraz Gergez on YouTube. He has a very interesting analysis of the US role in this.
