I really hate that the US is waffling. For goodness sakes help Israel do what it needs to do and quit listening to the far left Palestinian supporters, many of whom have no idea who they're supporting. I would, at least, help Israel with our air power to hit Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

I think the real need is to find a way to both contain Iran and integrate in back into the international system. As long as Iran is bankrolling Hezbollah and Hamas there is not real solution.

The concept of "re-integrating" Iran back into the world of enlightened society is NEVER going to happen as long as the Islamists remain in power. Continued US declining to enforce oil sanctions = cash cow for increased global spread of Islamic influence and subversion. If you think it's bad now wait until they're nuclear!

Yes, so we know what the goal has to be and people close to this than use have to work out the strategy and tactics and execute.

Agreed Steven!! The US with an international coalition is the solution. Iran is an emerging Imperial power if allowed to continue, especially if they become nuclear. Much bigger problem!

History shows that for the past 15 years the Democratic Party has been in power for 11 of them. During this time the Obama doctrine of appeasing Iran (make nice so they become nice) has been the US strategy/ideology.

It has clearly failed and is now widely considered to be foreign policy malpractice. Clearly November elections will delineate what the future holds.

To put this war of civilizations in a sports metaphor: Iran and co. have outscored the western team so far. It’s the resolve of a third league team against the internal division of an overpaid premier league club. The audience is watching in bewilderment and double checking the odds on their bets … “this one shouldn’t be too hard, right??”

Like in sports, the second half can get worse if we don’t get back to basics. An understanding we are up against a regime that rules based on fundamentalist islamac beliefs, out to destroy western civilization as we know it and replace it with their “dark ages” ideology. Given the vast majority in the west is set on an emphatic approach, it probably will get worse from here, until we are once again firmly reminded of some out of vogue lessons that have ruled this planet for thousands of years. Only time will tell what the price is we’ll pay for negligence.

Agreed 1000%! People must decide if they are on the side of enlightenment or 7th century barbarism. Suicidal empathy has to be stopped in all forms or we'll be done in the west. It's madness!

History demonstrates that post Oslo (1993), and Israeli withdrawals from South Lebanon in 2000 and Gaza in 2005 the IDF supported the Israeli left in their dreams of a two state solution for the two peoples. The IDF's statements of "we can always go back in and re-capture (south Lebanon, Gaza, etc.) if ever necessary now ring hollow with the majority of Israelis. Northern Israel is abandoned and being bombed daily and the 10/7 terror apocalypse in the Gaza envelope area in Israel we all know about.

The maniacal and deeply corrupt PA (PLO) is still primarily a terrorist organization. The PLO is no less bent on killing Israeli's and eliminating Israel completely than Hamas. Only difference is some PLO now wear suits instead green uniforms and keffiyeh.

Netanyahu (the majority of Israeli polling agrees) has no choice but to stand firm and hold onto the southern Gaza border with Egypt. The IDF are still discovering new smuggling tunnels daily. Abandoning this border would only reward Hamas with a win after a barbaric slaughter and replenish their armoury and terrorist soldier head count in short order to repeat October 7th.

With hostages in the diabolical hands of the pathological liar Sinwar, it's a Sophies choice every day. When Joe Biden and the UK both support the barbarians by critiquing Netanyahu and Israeli offensive actions, it becomes clear that 2024 is looking a lot like 1938 Czechoslovakia. Appeasement never works, the crocodile will always want to swallow you next.

This MEMRI video sums up the situation as described on Lebanese TV.

There is no real question here. It is Hamas. Anyone who says otherwise is indulging in blaming the victims. No doubt Netanyahu has made very bad choices, one after another, for a long time, and needs to go. But he did not pull the trigger and there is no way to know if a hostage deal that would save these people could have been done. Biden? The US needs a new ME strategy that is for sure. But Biden and the US are in now way responsible for the death of the hostages. I say this as a strong supporter of a two state solution.
